Today we are presenting an interview with our very own Julie Brown, IPUG/uPUG coordinator extraordinaire! We also just published a presentation Julie did describing everything you need to know about IPUG/uPUG here. Make sure to check it out!
Larry Blog Committee: Hi Julie, the Larry Blog Committee would like to put a face to the person who coordinates the IPUG/uPUG conference. Can we start by asking you to tell us a little bit about yourself?
Julie Brown: I live in Ellicott City, Maryland but am originally from Pennsylvania (Go Steelers!). I’ve worked for ANCILE Solutions for 12 years. I am married and have two children, a son who is 12 years old a daughter who is 9 months old.
Larry Blog Committee: What is your job title and what do you do for ANCILE Solutions?
Julie Brown: My job title is Technical Writer and I am responsible for ANCILE Info Pak, Help Launchpad, and uLearn user documentation, as well as user documentation for a few product releases later this year/early next year.
Larry Blog Committee: We understand that you are also responsible for setting up the IPUG/uPUG conference. What exactly does that entail?
Julie Brown: There are a lot of small things that need to be done from creating name badges to documenting room assignments, but the majority of time is spent communicating out updates (via the Product Support Center blog articles), creating the registration site and Advance/Final Program, working with the presenters, both internally and externally, on session topics and presentations, creating the schedule, and sending out email invitations to our conferences.
Larry Blog Committee: What can the customers expect from the conference?
Julie Brown: Lots of great, interactive presentations from both ANCILE and customers, time to network with fellow users, but also have time to relax and socialize at our welcome reception on Monday evening as well as at our Tuesday evening event which will be a paddleboat dinner cruise on the lake, which I’m really looking forward to.
Larry Blog Committee: What is your favorite part of IPUG/uPUG?
Julie Brown: My favorite part of IPUG is meeting the attendees. Everyone is always so friendly and are like, “Oh hi! I’m so glad to meet you.” The attendees are always very appreciative.
Larry Blog Committee: Are there any presentations you are particularly excited about this year?
Julie Brown: I think all the presentations will be a hit. Everyone, both from ANCILE and customers, put forth a lot of time and effort in to their presentations so that everyone can take information from them and put to use. The Keynote presentations are always a great hit and everyone comes out of those sessions pumped up and energized. I’m happy to announce we will be having two keynote presenters this year so I think everyone will have a lot of takeaways this year.
Larry Blog Committee: Is there anything else we didn’t cover you think the customers would like to know about the IPUG/uPUG Conference?
Julie Brown: I’d just like to say I hope everyone has a great time, I look forward to seeing/meeting everyone at the registration table, and please, if you have any suggestions for our future conferences, please let me know. Of course there will be the normal end-of-the-conference survey, but if you think of something after you get home, or even throughout the year, feel free to drop me a line at Julie.firstname.lastname@example.org or if you forget my name/email, feel free to send it to email@example.com and it will be forwarded to me. Thanks for taking the time to read this article and see you in a few weeks!
Larry Blog Committee: Julie, thank you for taking the time to answer these questions. I’m sure the customers now have a better understanding about the IPUG/uPUG conference and are excited to attend!
